NJSIAA Tennis: Hasbrouck Heights Falls to Hanover Park in State Tennis Tournament

HANOVER PARK, NJ - It was not a good day for Hasbrouck Heights tennis, with the  lady Aviators losing 5-0 to top-seeded Hanover Park in the second round of the NJSIAA Group 1 tennis tournament.

“Although we hoped to get further in the team tournament, we lost to an amazing team, having an amazing season,“ said head coach Suzanne Caines. “We're concentrating on the league matches in the next few days. These are must-wins for us, and we're excited.”

While the final result of the match was not impacted, Hasbrouck Heights First Singles Evelynn Kwak had to retire during her match with Audrey Lee of Hanover Park, despite being in control and leading 3-0. It is the second time this week that Kwak has had to retire from a match, having had to retire during the NJSIAA Individual Tournament on Sunday, two points from potentially winning the match.

“Although Evelynn was leading, she is still aching from the weekend and decided to retire,” stated Caines.

The Lady Aviators have a busy schedule this week, playing Secaucus on Wednesday and Rutherford on Thursday in key NJIC Meadowlands matches.
