PATERSON, NJ - Two local organizations, Muture Sisters and Growing in Grace, are joining forces for the Paterson Sleep Out on November 10, to raise awareness about homelessness and mental health issues in the community. The event will take place at Integrity Masonic Temple’s parking lot (224 MLK Way, Broadway) from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Muture Sisters is dedicated to providing life-saving resources such as hygiene services through their Shower Initiative, food, clothing, and HIV testing, while pushing for long-term housing solutions for the unhoused. Growing in Grace, on the other hand, is focused on mental health awareness, offering support and connections to services that can make a difference for those battling mental health issues.

The Sleep Out event is designed to shine a spotlight on both crises—homelessness and mental health—by encouraging the community to spend a night outside in solidarity. It also offers an opportunity for everyone to contribute. Participants can pledge $20 per hour the teams spend sleeping out, and all donations will directly fund the services provided by Muture Sisters and Growing in Grace.

Donations can be made through CashApp, Zelle, or PayPal, with every contribution helping to sustain the essential work both organizations are doing.
