Wayne, NJ - The Elite Surgical Center, located on the Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne is the sister center of the Wayne Surgical Center, which is celebrating its 25th year in business. While the WSC has provided multi-specialty, same-day surgical care for over 138,000 cases in that time span. The newer, Elite Surgical Center hit its own milestone this week  when they performed their 300 th total joint replacement case, using a special Robotic-Arm assisted device which reduces recovery time and allows  patients to go home the same day.

"Several years ago, we were proud to be among the first here in northern NJ to use this innovative technology. And today we reached a new landmark achievement” said Dennis Simmons, CEO of Elite Surgical Center, “It is part of our commitment to provide our community with outstanding healthcare.”

They are one of the first ambulatory surgery centers in northern New Jersey to offer Stryker’s Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted total joint replacement procedures. This latest advancement in joint replacement surgery is transforming the way joint replacement procedures are performed.

The robotic-assist from Mako’s device helps guide Elite’s surgeons to improve outcomes and recovery time, allowing for same-day, outpatient surgery. This technology minimizes soft tissue injury and helps size the implants based on a CT scan of the joint which is uploaded into the device.

The arm shows Elite’s surgeons exactly where to make the cuts, guiding them, and never allowing them to work outside the field.

“Total joint-replacement surgery can be intimidating; there are people who have been putting this off, despite near-constant discomfort, because of their fear of hospitals,” added Simmons. “Now they don’t have to go into a hospital for this surgery, and they don’t have to stay overnight. They can be home recovering where they will feel most comfortable.”

“Hospitals are very institutional,” he added. “If you schedule surgery in a hospital, you may be
bumped for an emergency. If you come to the Wayne Surgical Center, you’ll check in and have the surgery
between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., and go home. It’s as simple as that.”

The Wayne Surgical Center has done much more for the Wayne community then to just provide this special care, they are constantly giving back, supporting Wayne Interfaith Network Food Pantry, and other local organizations and fundraising events, they sponsor the annual Wayne Cornhole League and donate to the Rocco Sivolella Athlete of the Year scholarships, among so much more.
