Additionally, four players who reached the 500 point milestone were also honored. This was the first time that players with 500+ points were recognized, as previously only 1000 point scorers were recognized.
The four players honored were:
Ashley Shine - 2024 eighth grader finished her career with 562 points. Ashley was unable to attend the ceremony as she had a Hasbrouck Heights Girls Varsity Soccer game at the same time.
Giuliana Capozzoli - 2024 fifth grader has reached 651 points to date.
Dylan Gibbs-Sausa - 2024 sixth grader has reached 665 points to date.
Savannah Davis - 2024 sixth grader has reached 859 points to date.
“It's great that the Mayor and Council recognize and honor the youth teams and players for their accomplishments," stated Davis. “ It's always such a great experience. Our current Mayor and many of the Council members are regular attendees at travel sporting events, cheering on the kids; the kids get a hoot when the mayor or a council member can recall and talk about a particular game, championship, or moment. ” “We are all so proud of the girls for their continued hard work and success,” Davis continued. “The 2024 teams mark the 15th League/Tournament Champions and 23rd Championship appearance for a team in the program since 2020. It's especially sweet that these championships all came from our youngest teams in the program, the next generation of travel basketball players following in the footsteps of alumni champions now in high school and college.”
