PARAMUS, NJ - The state awarded the town of Paramus a $500,000 grant to install turf at Midland Field on West Midland Avenue.

“We’re fortunate enough to receive a half a million dollar state grant for field improvement,” Mayor Chris DiPiazza said at the October 1 council meeting.

The Paramus Little League team was present for the announcement after being recognized for winning the 8U Little League State Championship.

The Paramus Little League and Softball program involves approximately 600 children. The new field, adjacent to the borough's public pool, will be utilized by both teams.

“Fields get beat up due to weather, so having turf will be great for the town and kids,” DiPiazza said.

The project will be similar to a recent turf installation at Phil Apreda Field in Teaneck, DiPiazza noted.

Additional funding is needed for the project, so Mayor DiPiazza hopes to partner with the Paramus Board of Education.

“Right now, we are working with the Board of Education on a joint project,” he said. “If they agree to team up with us, it’ll be a great thing for the community.”

Once the funding is finalized, the mayor said he hopes the field will be ready by early spring 2025.
