    Football: Bayonne Beats Newark East Side, 34-15

    BAYONNE, NJ -- Junior halfback Chance Fischer scored three touchdowns to lead Bayonne to its fourth win in a row, a 34-15 football victory over Newark East Side on Friday night.

    Less than two minutes into the game, Fischer put the Bees on the board wth a 17-yard touchdown run followed by Mike Tawfik's extra point.

    East Side (3-4) scored two points on a safety, but an interception by Deon McKinnon gave Bayonne (4-2) possession and initiated a drive that ended with Fischer's 22-yard TD run with 10:20 left in the second quarter.

    East Side closed to within five, 14-9, on Xavier Smith's 19-yard pass to Jakem Brown with 8:28 left in the second quarter, but Nico Sampson Jr. connected with Jerome Hayes Jr. with 3:01 to go before halftime as the Bees extended their lead to 21-9.

    The third quarter was scoreless until Jared Edwards ran 11 yards for a TD with 41 seconds left. Brown's second touchdown of the game for East Side with 10:26 made it 28-15.

    Fischer closed out the scoring with a 40-yard TD run with 1:31 left in the fourth quarter. He has nine touchdowns in his last three games.

    Bayonne will play at Columbia next Friday night in Maplewood.
