CORAL SPRINGS, FL - This week, I’m spotlighting a few standout dishes and deals that are too good to miss in Coral Springs and Margate.

From an all-you-can-eat sushi deal to Cuban classics and Vietnamese favorites, here’s what’s been catching my attention lately.

    • Mima’s 1868 Cuban Cafe (Coral Springs): 6261 Sample Road

Mima's has bounced back well after Covid, with an optimized menu and much-improved service. One of the few local spots offering Arroz Congri (Moros), Mima's serves up true Cuban comfort food. I recently tried their Vaca Frita sandwich—fantastic with tostones and a perfect garlic mojo. I also grabbed an order of picadillo for later. Whether dining inside or on the patio, Mima's consistently delivers.

    • Pho Gia Vi (Margate): 1799 State Road 7

Pho Gia Vi is a small, family-owned restaurant in Margate, and it's my favorite Vietnamese place in the area. While they're famous for their excellent pho, their Spicy Lemongrass Beef Rice Noodle Salad is exceptional. This dish perfectly balances tender beef, fresh vegetables, and fragrant lemongrass. The restaurant offers many other fantastic dishes apart from noodle soups, making it a great choice for Vietnamese food lovers.

    • Dumpling King (Coral Springs): 1221 University Drive

Stopping by Dumpling King for some soup and dumplings is always a win. I particularly love their Shanghai-style wonton soup. It is light and flavorful, with seaweed, thin strips of omelet, and delicate wontons. It's not overly salty, and at $8 for 12 wontons, it's great value. The soup is perfect for takeout, but don't let it sit for more than a day, or the wontons will break apart. Keep an eye out for their pumpkin dumplings during Halloween week!

    • Kubo Asian Fusion and Bar (Coral Springs): 1933 University Drive

Kubo's happy hour is always a blast, especially when head bartender Shannon is behind the bar. Her drinks are top-notch. The restaurant also offers an all-you-can-eat sushi deal (including mimosas) on Mondays and Tuesdays for $31. It's a fantastic deal, even though I can't eat my weight in sushi anymore. But I'm sure some of you will give it a try!
