Passaic Valley Edges Out Immaculate Heart in Tight 2-1 Victory

LITTLE FALLS, NJ - Passaic Valley's field hockey team secured a 2-1 win over Immaculate Heart on Thursday. Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, with neither side managing to score. However, the action picked up in the second half as both teams found the back of the net.
Immaculate Heart (1-11) broke the deadlock in the third quarter when Erin Sullivan scored, assisted by Kylie Bryan, putting them ahead 1-0. The Hornets (2-10) quickly responded, with Olivia Marricone scoring the equalizer later in the quarter.
The decisive moment came in the final quarter when Magdalena Foucaud, assisted by Lilliana Kalokitis, scored to give Passaic Valley a 2-1 lead. Despite Immaculate Heart’s efforts, they were unable to find another goal.
Immaculate Heart’s goalkeeper Megan McCarthy recorded 12 saves, while Passaic Valley’s Mackenzie Taylor tallied 14 saves in the win. Both teams had numerous opportunities, with Immaculate Heart taking 15 shots on goal compared to Passaic Valley’s 14. However, the Hornets capitalized on two of their eight penalty corners, which proved crucial in securing the victory.
The win brings Passaic Valley to a 1-3 record in the NEFHL - Liberty division, while Immaculate Heart remains winless in conference play at 0-5.
