CLARK, NJ — On Saturday, October 19, the Township of Clark's Department of Recreation held its annual Trunk-or-Treat event. It was a great success, as dozens of cars lined up in the Recreation Center parking lot, with their trunks open, revealing candy, treats, and Halloween-themed fun galore.

We all know that if you provide sweets, they will come. And come they did indeed, as a steady stream of children and their families lined up for candy, costume contests, and all kinds of fun and activities.

Both individuals and organizations were well represented on Saturday, as not only residents themselves were caught being generous, but a host of local businesses and organizations were also in attendance, determined that no sweet tooth should go unsatisfied.

Meanwhile, one local sculptor, John Shersick, the Renaissance master of pumpkin carving, was busy applying his talents to the famous orange squash the way Michelangelo might handle a fine piece of Italian marble. (See attached photos!)

Yes, even TAPinto Clark got in on the action, as David and Nicole Brighouse battled slightly warmer than usual temperatures, which began to take a toll on their chocolate bars and peanut butter cups. (Okay, okay, after about an hour, we also ran out of candy! But we'll plan better next year.)

Recreation Director Ralph Bernardo remarked that he “ was thrilled with the number of families that partook in the 2024 Trunk-or-Treat. It was a beautiful day, and everyone seemed to enjoy all the festivities. Special thanks to all the volunteers for giving up their time and for their generosity and for making this happen.”
