MONTCLAIR, NJ - Montclair students celebrate National Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day, says officials.

Last week, students and families across Montclair embraced active travel by walking, biking, or scootering to school as part of National Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day. This annual event shines a spotlight on the importance of safe, healthy, and environmentally-friendly travel for students.

In addition to the celebration, eight Montclair schools were recently awarded Silver status by the New Jersey Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program. The schools—Bradford, Charles H. Bullock, Edgemont, Glenfield, Hillside, Nishuane, Northeast, and Watchung—achieved this recognition largely due to their participation in Bike Bus events, organized by Montclair Bike Bus, which take place on Friday mornings.

Several of these schools also held regular Walk or Bike to School Days, while others hosted assemblies focused on walking and biking safety. All of these initiatives contribute toward earning the SRTS award, underscoring each school's commitment to promoting safe and active commuting for their students.
