    Sayreville Cheerleading wins 2024 GMC Red Division Championship

    SAYREVILLE, NJ – This weekend in sports for Sayreville included a championship win for the cheerleading team and a road loss for the football team.

    Sayreville War Memorial won the 2024 Red Division Championship at the GMC Game Day Championship on Sunday, Oct. 27 at Old Bridge High School. Game Day cheerleaders boost the excitement of games, bringing energy to the stadium and interacting with the fans.  The teams use signs, flags and megaphones to encourage the excitement of the crowd. The team performs a three-minute sideline chant or cheer.

    This year's cheer team included Isabella Negron, Brooke Rosario, Laci Kent, Sara Torino, Rachel Cruz, Abby Lukie, Olivia DeSimone, Rachel Galbreath, Riley Hastings, Emily Sztukowski, Jillian Slavicek, Egypt Handy-Hunter, Leah Hyslop, Hannah Bigata, Jaida Benitez,  Krissandra Cabanten, Jayda Ronquillo, Sarah Murphy, Madison Marotolli, Mackenzie Schack, Jenny Peralta, Delilah Valoy, Katerina Magaga-Borovets, Kaycie Slavicek, Gabriella Minio, Anivyah Kenney, Olivia Lombardi, Jaida Walker, Makennan Switzeer-Romao, A'mya Ortiz, Teagan Braine, Summer Curbelo and Zoe Anderson
    The girls are coached by Coach Sara Boyle, Coach Nicole Lynch and Coach Samantha Ritter. Football Sayreville ended their regular season with a road loss to St. Thomas Aquinas, 43-20 on Friday, Oct. 25. Sayreville scored three rushing touchdowns, one in each of the first three quarters, from Dariel Jerez, Devyn McCall, and Shaun Jackson. Sayreville is now 3-6 this season and sits in second place in the National Silver Division of the Big Central Conference.
