    Millburn Police Report Several Vehicle-Related Incidents, A Home Break In & A Couple of Shoplifting Cases in Aug.

    MILLBURN, NJ — The Millburn Police Department provided a report of stolen cars, a DWI, a home break in and a couple of shoplifting crimes that occurred in August.

    A police officer pulled over a moped on Hobart Avenue and Great Oak Drive because it had no license plates. The officer investigated the matter and discovered that the moped was stolen in Elizabeth. The driver was arrested and charged with receiving a stolen vehicle.

    A 2016 Ford Escape was stopped on Rt. 124 in front of an office building. When the police spoke to the driver, they discovered he was Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). They arrested him and released him to an acquaintance.

    In another incident, the police saw two male suspects running away from a house on Sagamore Road and fleeing in a stolen vehicle. Police gave chase but had to stop due to safety concerns. The incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau. The police discovered that the suspects had entered the Sagamore house through an unlocked door.

    Police went to a Crescent Place home for a call about an attempted burglary of a motor vehicle. A witness saw the suspect attempt to enter an Acura MDX, but it was locked. Police located the suspect walking on Chatham Road and arrested him, charging him with burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    In another case, a Millburn police officer stopped a 2023 Mazda CX-30 because its registration was suspended. They found controlled dangerous substances (CDS) in the car. Police arrested the driver, who had a warrant for his arrest issued in Millburn for fraud, and sent him to the Essex County Correctional Facility. The passenger was charged with Hindering and possession of CDS.

    A shoplifting incident occurred at Sephora in The Mall at Short Hills. Workers called the police to report $264 of stolen merchandise. The police located the two suspects and charged them with shoplifting.

    Finally, police reported to Walgreens where two men from the Bronx had taken $240 of merchandise without paying for it. Police arrested them and charged them with shoplifting.
