The Tarrytown Fire Department said one of its crews rescued two swimmers in distressed during Thursday night's Fourth of July fireworks. Assistant Chief Patrick Derivan said two swimmers jumped into the water off a boat not far from the barge where the fireworks were being fired. The current, however, was strong and it pulled the swimmers away from their boat . Derivan said the department's Fire Boat 5 was only feet away from the swimmers in the area on firework patrol as a precaution. The crews on the fire boat were able to pull the two people out of the water safely. They were not hurt in the whole ordeal. "This is something we are trained to do. We are out here every year prepared for stuff like this," Derivan added. "
