The start of high school football in the Greater Taunton area is now just a week away.

Ahead of the start of tryouts, the Taunton Daily Gazette is taking a look at the distance all four area teams will be travelling this year for their road schedule, as well as which of their opponents will be traveling the furthest to play under the bright Friday night lights.

As with last year, Bristol-Plymouth will be playing their home games at Taunton High's Aleixo "Tiger" Stadium, with the exception of the Week 3 game against South Shore Tech, which will be held at Southeastern. For this list, the Craftsmen's travel mileage is measured from B-P, while opponents' travel mileage is measured to the hosting high school.

Here's the total mileage for all four Greater Taunton area high school football teams, ranked from longest to shortest combined road trips.

    1. Dighton-Rehoboth/Bristol Aggie

    The shortest and longest trips

The shortest road trip of any of the four Greater Taunton area teams is Dighton-Rehoboth/Bristol Aggie’s Thanksgiving showdown with Seekonk (17.2 miles). The Falcons also have the longest road trip, which comes in Week 2 when they head down the Cape to face Dennis-Yarmouth (128).

By chance, the newly formed co-op is also hosting the shortest and longest round trips by an opposing team to the Greater Taunton area: Somerset Berkley in Week 6 (20) and Nauset in Week 1A (170).
