    Three champs crowned at 2024 Taunton Junior City Open

    TAUNTON— It may be the Taunton Junior City Open , but three Norton golfers were crowned champions of this year's edition.

    In Division 3 (ages 16-18), Shawn Clary defended his title , shooting a 146 (+6) over two days, with a tournament-best 72 (+2) Monday and a 74 (+4) Tuesday to clinch it. Alex Dias finished runner up after shooting an 85 (+15) and a 75 (+5) for a combined 160 (+20).

    In Division 2 (ages 14-15), Mason Ball was crowned champion, shooting a 76 (+6) and 75 (+5) for a combined total of 151 (+11). Jack Regan finished as runner-up, shooting a 74 (+4) and 79 (+9) for a combined total of 153 (+13). The middle division was the most hotly contested of all three, with 15 of the tournament's 26 participants falling into the age range.

    In Division 1 (ages 11-13), Evan Caldwell won it all after shooting a 93 (+23) and an 86 (+16) for a combined total of 179 (+39). Camden Fontaine was the runner up, shooting an 88 (+18) and 93 (+23) for a combined total of 181 (+41).

    As for the other defending champions, 2022 Division 1 and 2023 Division 2 winner Charlie Rosa finished fourth in Division 2, shooting an 85 (+15) and 76 (+6) for a combined total of 161 (+21). Bryce Botelho, the 2023 Division 1 champion, finished sixth in Division 2, shooting an 84 (+14) and 86 (+16) for a combined total of 170 (+30).

    Griffin Clary finished third in Division 2 after shooting a 75 (+5) and 79 (+9) for a combined total of 154 (+14) while Adam Caldwell finished fifth in Division 2 after shooting an 80 (+10) and 82 (+12) for a combined total of 162 (+22). The remaining Division 2 golfers, in order of placing, were Cole O'Connell (88/82/172), Colby Emond (88/88/176), Brayden Smith (88/88/176), Quint Perry (85/93/178), Matthew DaRosa (90/88/178), Olivia Graham (92/94/186), Logan Mendes (99/92/191), Lukas Narciso (96/109/205) and Cooper Cordeiro (102/119/221).

    In Division 3, Cole Souza finished third, shooting a 90 (+20) and 80 (+10) for a combined total of 170 (+30). Finishing behind him in order were Noah Faidell (86/87/173), Josh Reidy (90/88/178), Ella Rosa (88/93/181) and Tyler Narciso (132/122/254).

    Tagg Whowell came in third in Division 1, shooting a 102 (+32) and 101 (+31) for a combined total of 203 (+63) while Callen Forget came in fourth, shooting a 108 (+38) and 111 (+41) for a combined total of 219 (+79).
