Don't let the heat fool you: high school football will be here before you know it.
Ahead of the tryouts and training camps, and before the first kickoff whistle sounds under those famed Friday night lights in the Greater Taunton area, the Taunton Daily Gazette is kicking off our 2024 high school football coverage with a look at all four area team's schedules, starting with Taunton.
The Tigers are coming off a 6-5 season, including a 2-3 Hockomock Kelley-Rex record thanks to a first-ever Hockomock win over North Attleboro and a successful Senior Night against Attleboro. Taunton once again qualified for the Division 1 tournament as the No. seed but bowed out after a Round of 16 loss to No. 8 BC High.
This fall, there's a few changes to the Tiger schedule, most notably with the latest Hockomock League realignment seeing Sharon move to the larger school Kelley-Rex Division while North Attleboro returns to smaller school Davenport Division. Taunton retains the Red Rocketeers on the schedule as a non-league opponent, while the game against the Eagles will be the first meeting between the two since 2012. The Tigers also picked up a pair of new non-league opponents as well, one of which replaces a two year series against Middleboro.

Week 9- Thursday Oct. 31 vs. Sharon, 6 p.m.
