    Taunton mayor charged with assault and battery with dangerous weapon

    Taunton Mayor Shaunna O'Connell allegedly bit her husband, attacked him with a small crowbar and then jumped on the roof of his car to keep him from leaving during an argument last Friday evening, he told police prior to her arrest.

    The mayor was arraigned on Monday in Taunton District Court on charges of assault and battery on a household member and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon .

    She was released on personal recognizance.

    The mayor did not speak about the incident, her arrest or arraignment during Tuesday's City Council meeting .

    New construction in Taunton Industrial Park hopes to bring more 'tough tech' to area

    Although its tenant isn't yet known as of this writing, construction has begun on a new facility at Myles Standish Industrial Park.

    The manufacturing facility is being built to lease at 55 Dever Drive, and Boston-based real estate investment firm Rhino Capital Advisors, LLC is already looking for a tenant to lease the space.

    Tyler Murphy, head of construction and development for Rhino Capital Advisors, said they hope to attract a business that is referred to as "tough tech."

    Watchdog visits Morton Hospital in Taunton to see if bankruptcy's putting patients at risk

    When Steward Health Care declared bankruptcy and put their hospitals up for sale, a judge chose Suzanne Koenig as "patient care ombudsman."

    Her job is to inspect the facilities and flag dangers to patients.

    She released her report, and found no cause for concern about patient care and safety at Morton Hospital in Taunton.

    Taunton softball team wins national title

    The Mass Dynamites 14U team captured the USA Softball Class-B Eastern 14-Under Fast Pitch National Championship this past Sunday, beating the Olney (Md.) Cougars Pomeroy 13U, 5-4, in the title game at the Philip A. Bolen Memorial Regional Park in Leesburg, Virginia.

    A walk to shortstop Madison Crowley with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh saw the Dynamites clinch the walk-off win.
