SWANSEA— A week after taking home a national title , the Mass Dynamites 14U Fastpitch Softball team (23-8-2) wrapped up the 2024 season with some more local silverware.

The Dynamite won the Swansea Extreme 14U Open Tournament Sunday, defeating the New Hampshire Prospects Brisk 14U, 10-2, in the title game Sunday at the Mark G. Hoyle Elementary School, going a perfect 5-0 while outscoring opponents 63-3 over a three day stretch.

"I am proud of the way this group continued to grind and grow as a team," Dynamites manager Tom Hoye said. "It would have been conceivable for a letdown, but this team has zero quit it in. This was a great way to finish the season."

Pitcher Grace Simmons earned the win in the title game, going all five innings giving up a pair of runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two and going 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs at the plate. Shortstop Madison Crowley went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI while center fielder Kaylee Lopes went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Marianna Pina went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs while Katelyn O'Sullivan went 3-for-3 with a run.

The Dynamites kicked the tournament off Friday with a commanding 14-0 win over Mass Titans Black 14U. The national champions looked even more dominant Saturday as they scored a pair of blowout wins over Blue Hills Impact (14-0) and Cape Cod Chaos Teal (19-0).

In the semi-final, the Mass Drifters Orange 14U plated the first run of the weekend against the Dynamites, but the team from Taunton responded with six unanswered runs for the 6-1 win. That set up the final with the Manchester-based club, who the Dynamites were able to handle to end an impressive campaign on a high note.

"I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to coach this great group of student athletes," Hoye said. "They were able to create memories that will never be forgotten."

Crowley led the way at the plate over the course of the tournament, batting a combined 9-for-14 (.643) with five doubles, five runs and four RBIs. Lopes went 6-for-12 (.500) with a double, a triple, seven runs and five RBIs while Pina went 6-for-11 (.545) with a pair of doubles, seven runs and five RBIs. O'Sullivan went 4-for-10 (.400) with four runs and three RBIs and drew four walks while outfielder Maddie Roscoe went 5-for-8 (.625) with three runs and seven RBIs.
