TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) — The City of Taylor is no longer under any water restrictions after it was temporarily placed under Stage 3 restrictions following pump failures earlier this month.

According to a release from the city, the Brazos River Authority (BRA) has notified Taylor that it rescinded Stage 3 water restrictions for the East Williamson County Water System (EWCRWS), which provides water to the city of Taylor, the Jonah Special Utility District, and the Lone Star Regional Water Authority.

The restrictions were put in place after temporary pump failures at Lake Granger on July 15.

According to the BRA, an electrical glitch at the EWCRWS plant near Taylor took all three pumps offline. One pump was restarted immediately, but two could not be restarted.

A temporary pump was installed on July 16, meeting customer demand and refilling storage. Repairs of the two permanent pumps are expected to be completed by the week of July 29.

City of Taylor water has returned to normal and no restrictions are currently in place, but the BRA is asking everyone to continue to use water wisely over the next week until the permanent pump repairs are done.

The Brazos River Authority said it will take appropriate steps to reduce water use as necessary should issues occur with the temporary pump.
