2 men shot in suspected 'targeted act' outside VYBZ Lounge in St. Lucie West

PORT ST. LUCIE − Port St. Lucie Police are investigating a shooting outside a lounge in St. Lucie West that left two men with non life-threatening injuries, police said Friday.

Police about 2:10 a.m. Friday went to Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie after a 45-year-old man and a 25-year-old man arrived with gunshot wounds.

According to an early investigation, the men had left VYBZ Lounge in the 2000 block of Northwest Courtyard Circle and got in their vehicle when a person in an older, dark sedan fired into the vehicle, “striking the front seat passenger and rear seat passenger,” police stated.

The driver wasn’t hurt, and drove the two men to the hospital, while the alleged gunman fled in the sedan.

Lt. John Dellacroce, police spokesperson, said there was no indication of a fight or confrontation before the shooting.

The shooting victims, both Port St. Lucie residents, later were discharged from the hospital, police said.

The incident appears to be a targeted act and there is no immediate threat to the community, police stated.

Dellacroce said the motive is under investigation, and there is no evidence the victims returned fire or that there was an exchange of gunfire.
