    Three sought the District 3 seat on the Martin County Commission vacated by the chair

    MARTIN COUNTY — Small-business owner Blake Capps won a seat on the County Commission Tuesday, defeating two others, including Indiantown Mayor Susan Gibbs Thomas, at the end of voting in the primary election. Capps will fill the seat vacated by Chair Harold Jenkins who did not seek reelection.

    In his campaign, Capps said growth and development was the No. 1 issue to voters.

    WHAT HAPPENED: Small-business owner Blake Capps defeated Indiantown Mayor Gibbs Thomas and Frank D'Ambra III.

    THE VOTE : Capps, 14,585; Gibbs Thomas, 10,982; D'Ambra III, 3,249, according to complete, but unofficial results from the Supervisor of Elections Office.

    NEW TERM: Four years, beginning Nov. 19.

    SALARY: $78,905
