PORT ST. LUCIE − A 23-year-old Fort Pierce man riding a motorcycle died after a Monday traffic crash on Interstate 95 that involved two other vehicles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash, reported at 6:34 a.m., happened in the southbound lanes of I-95 in the area of Gatlin Boulevard, FHP stated.

The 23-year-old man rode a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle south in the right lane behind a 2024 Hyundai sport utility vehicle driven by a 52-year-old Port St. Lucie woman.

The motorcycle traveled “at a high rate of speed,” according to the FHP, and collided with the rear of the Hyundai.

The Hyundai was pushed into the center lane where it struck a 2013 Dodge driven by a 36-year-old Vero Beach man.

The motorcycle driver, whose name was not released by FHP, died at the scene.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.

The crash caused a lengthy traffic back-up on I-95.
