STUART — Visual journalist Crystal Vander Weit recommends Krua Thai restaurant at 3283 S.E. Federal Highway in Stuart.

Chef Ben Wongprom took over ownership in 2011 and offers Thai cooking classes.

The restaurant offers an assortment of Thai cuisine, including curry, fried rice, pad Thai, drunken noodles, pad se-ew and soups. The chef's selection features items such as seafood and fish choo chee curry, fish ginger wine sauce, fish chili sauce, chicken volcano, duck curry, crispy duck, duck pad Thai and soft shell crab ginger wine.

Q : Why do you recommend this restaurant?

A: Ever since visiting Thailand over a decade ago, Thai food became a favorite of mine. I've never been disappointed when either dining in or picking up take away from Krua Thai. The food is fresh, tasty and consistent. The restaurant is a must whenever I have family or friends visiting from out-of-town.

Q : What is your favorite dish there?

A: The Massaman curry with chicken. The dish is sweet and savory and made by simmering meat, potatoes, and vegetables in a mixture of coconut milk and fragrant curry paste.

Q : Is there something unique on the menu you recommend trying?

A: The crying tiger salad is very delicious. It is made with marinated steak on a bed of lettuce, vegetables, red chili and herbs. The dressing is made of lime juice, fish oil and chili paste.

Q : Describe the atmosphere.

A: The restaurant has a quaint, cozy and warm feeling. The staff is exceptional and very attentive.
