After 28 years with Teague ISD, Accounts Payable Specialist Pat Cothran has retired. A retirement party was held for Cothran on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7.

Cothran said her tenure at Teague ISD has been so rewarding.

“I’ve loved my job and my work family,” Cothran said. “I was raised in Teague and my parents had a grocery store so the people of Teague have always been a big part of my life.”

Cothran says she plans on enjoying the next chapter of her life.

According to Teague ISD Superintendent Chris Skinner, it’s challenging to find a starting point to address what Cothran has meant to the district given the profound impact she has had.

“Professionally, Pat has been the cornerstone of our district, embodying the very best of Teague ISD. She is one of the most loving, loyal, honest, and hardworking individuals I’ve ever had the privilege of working with,” Skinner said. “Her dedication to Teague ISD is unparalleled, and her affection for the people within this district is equally unmatched. While others come close, I don’t know how you can reach a bar that is set this high.”

Skinner stated Cothran possesses an exceptional “it factor” that is hard to define, but impossible to overlook.

“Her constant prayers and guidance have helped us all become better individuals. Her presence alone has a positive effect, elevating everyone she interacts with,” Skinner said. “While many people have positive influences, Pat has a rare ability to enhance the lives of those around her simply by being herself.”

Skinner noted Cothran’s legacy within Teague ISD will be seen for decades to come.

“Personally, Pat has been an irreplaceable presence in my life, filling a void left by the loss of my grandmother,” Skinner said. “Though she is family, she has transcended that role, providing honesty, love, and guidance. Her impact on me has been huge, and while we will deeply miss her, the mark she has left on our district will last forever.”
