    Attempted murder

The Freestone County Sheriff Office responded to a shooting Friday, Aug. 9, in the Streetman area with injuries sustained to the victim.

FCSO Deputies Aultman and Leatherman responded to the location and Patrol Sgt. Darby and CID Sgt. Weinmann were contacted to assist in the investigation.

Upon arrival, deputies located a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The deputies secured the scene and the victim was airlifted to a trauma hospital.

The victim underwent a surgery and was in stable condition as of Friday night.

During the initial investigation, a male suspect was identified and located nearby.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence, and the weapon believed to be used in the attack was located. It was learned there had been a physical altercation prior to the shooting. The suspect had charged at the victim, on the victim’s property, causing a physical altercation. The victim called 911 to report it and then he went back inside his residence. The suspect then knocked on the victim’s door and opened fire when the victim opened it.

Additionally, it was learned the suspect was a convicted felon and had several military style ballistic vests in his possession. The suspect has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon (F3) and three counts of Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by Felon (F3).

The suspect has also received medical attention for injuries he sustained in the prior altercation and is currently being held on $600,000 bond for Attempted Murder. The other four charges did not have bonds set as of the news release. There will be no further information to release at this time as the investigation continues.

    Child porn

Units from the Freestone County Sheriff Office, Teague Police Department and Precinct 3 Constable’s Office executed a search-and-arrest warrant Tuesday, Aug. 6, at a residence in Teague.

The search-and arrest-warrant was the result of an investigation led by FCSO Sgt. Weinmann into a man suspected of possessing child pornography.

Intelligence was gathered by the Texas Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force team of which the FCSO and Weinmann are members. During the search warrant, Weinmann interviewed the suspect and obtained a full confession of the allegations. Several electronic devices were seized from the residence and the investigation will continue with the analysis of those devices.

The suspect was arrested and charged with possessing more than 50 images/videos of child pornography and is currently being held on $150,000 bond. This case is still under investigation so no further information will be released by the FCSO at this time.
