The Teague Lady Lions defeated Wortham and fell to Frost this past week to move to 16-12 overall.

“I am proud of how the girls have competed in playing some bigger schools. We took a set from 6A New Braunfels and the girls really came together and really executed in that game,” Coach Sarah Beaird said. “We also had a big win against Franklin in the Legends Volleyball tournament in Bryan.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 3, Teague hosted and defeated the Wortham Lady Bulldogs in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-15, and 25-17.

Sophomore, Ady Beaird, achieved 1,000 career assists during the match against Wortham. Sarah Beaird noted that Ady and the team have worked hard to reach this milestone and she is extremely proud of her efforts.

“I am very excited to have met this goal. It is nice to see that my hard work and work I do in the off season is paying off,” Ady Beaird said.

“I am so thankful to my team, my passers and hitters, that have allowed me to reach this milestone. I would not have been able to achieve this without them. My next goal is to reach 2, 000 assists.”

On Friday, Teague traveled to Frost to take on the Lady Polar Bears. Frost won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23. Teague came back to take the next two sets 25-17 and 25-15 to force a fifth set. The Lady Polar Bears took the home win with a 15-7 victory.

Teague traveled to Centerville on Tuesday night, Sept. 10, to take on the Lady Tigers. The Lady Lions will begin district play this Friday, Sept. 13, as they host the Fairfield Lady Eagles. Teague will host Whitney next Tuesday, Sept. 17.

“Our goal for district play is to end in the top of the district. We will take each game one at a time,” Beaird said. “Overall, we have made some gains during our tournament season and we are excited to get district rolling.”
