Anayeli Bailon, Audrey Cearley, Kaylee Cuevas, Keely Mathis, Korree Riskin, Cate Satterwhite and Reese Stacks played together throughout their childhood, and finished their playing days on April 26 with a two-game loss to Little River Academy. Most of these student-athletes did more than one sport, but softball was where this group of seven came together and found common ground. “It’s extremely hard to believe that I won’t be wearing a Teague uniform anymore,” Mathis said. “These last four years have taught us a lot not just...

Harris qualifies for state in triple jump
, Teague junior J’Kybryen Harris felt good about his distance of 45 feet, 3.25 inches in the triple jump Monday afternoon in Waco. Harris, who jumped a then-school record 45 feet at the area meet on April 12, broke the record again on Monday, which was good enough for a third-place in the Region III-3A Meet at Midway High School. Then the waiting game took place. Harris cautiously waited to learn the results from the other three region meets in Class 3A. Fortunately, none of the other third-place finishers jumped farther than Harris, which gave him the wild card berth in the Class 3A state meet on May 2 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Harris will be the only Teague representative at the state meet. The top two finishers per regional event and top thirdplace finish in the state qualify for the state meet. Harris also competed in the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relays. Joining Harris on the 4x100 was Bryce Bates, Kemauri Evans and Jehmel Rice; and Zak Leija joined Evans, Harris and Rice on the 4x200. Rice also competed in the triple jump and 200-meter run. Evans also competed in the 100-meter run.

I believe there were three finalists out of 46 campuses.” For Herrington, he was conducting afternoon recess. Then...
Teague sending 5 to region meet
, Six for six. That’s how many participants - individual or quartet - the Teague boys track and field program had at the Districts 19/20-3A Area Meet last Friday in McGregor. Six is the same number of participants that the Lions will have at this weekend’s Region III-Class 3A Meet at Midway High School in Waco. Teague earned one first place and five third place finishes at last week’s area meet. The top four finishes in each event advanced to the region meet. The necks of Kemauri Evans, J’Kybryen Harris and Jehmel Rice were likely strained by the number of medals that they earned. Rice earned a quartet of bronze medals, while Evans earned three bronze, and Harris picked up two bronze and the lone gold medal. Harris earned his gold medal in the triple jump with a school record leap of 45 feet. Rice was third in the event. Evans and Rice finished third in the 100 and 200 meter runs, respectively.
