FC approves tax abatement for Buffalo Springs Solar
, Freestone County Commissioners Court held a public hearing on its intent to enter into a tax abatement with Buffalo Spring Solar; and the court subsequently approved the tax abatement with that company. , The Teague baseball team split its games last week. The Lions suffered a 6-3 setback at Fairfield on April 2, and edged Mexia, 5-4, last Friday in Teague. TISD approves 2024-25 calendar
The Teague ISD board of trustees approved the 20242025 academic calendar at the March 26 school board meeting. The first day of school is set for Wednesday, Aug. 14. Staff development days for teachers will be Aug. 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, and 13. Monday, Sept. 2, is Labor Day and will be a school holiday. , , Teague ISD honored its Employee, Teacher, and Administrator of the Month at its March board meeting on Tuesday, March 26. All board members were present except for Justin Lee. TISD Superintendent Chris Skinner recognized Courtney West as the Employee of the Month, Julie Paris as the Teacher of the Month, and Crystal Adams as the Administrator of the Month for the month of March. County gets over half a million in fed funds
, Freestone County has now received the funds from the federal government through Senate Bill 22, and Commissioners Court accepted the funds: $350,000 for the Sheriff’s Office; and $175,000 for the District Attorney’s Office. , Two teams and two individuals from the Bi-Stone Region are headed to the Region III-Class 3A golf tournament after finishing as either a second-place team or top two non-qualifying team individual. More than 10 students from Teague High School continue to embark on a challenge this year of taking dual credit classes in Texas State Technical College’s Electrical Power and Controls program. This semester, the juniors and seniors are driving to the Waco campus for the AC Circuits and Motor Control classes. The students are earning college credit hours as they finish work for their high school diplomas. Renovated assisted living center is back in business

The William Thomas Tyus and Texana Winkler Tyus Family Bible published in 1881 was donated to the Freestone County Historical Museum by Kelly L. Tyus of Fairfield on Friday, Feb. 23. William Thomas Tyus and Texana Winkler were the great-grandparents of Ms. Tyus. William Thomas Tyus, a native of Freestone County, was the oldest son of Robert Malone Tyus and Amanda C. Haynie. The total solar eclipse is scheduled to make an appearance in Freestone County on the afternoon of April 8. County officials are expecting many visitors to witness the event. TISD hosting event for incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students
Teague Elementary is hosting a Pre-K and Kindergarten Extravaganza on Thursday, March 21, from 5-7 p.m. There will be hot dogs, chips and drinks served. There will also be a bounce house and photo booth. Prize drawings will be held for early registration. Athletes and the drumline will also be present. Students will have PE and Specials, which includes art/music, computer, library, and ready bodies, every day. Pre-K students must be four before Sept 1, 2024. Kindergarten students must be five before Sept. 1, 2024. If students are currently enrolled in the Teague Elementary Pre-K program, parents/guardians do not need to complete a form. The student will automatically roll over. However, those students are welcome to participate in the Extravaganza and win prizes.
