Historical groups contribute to railroad museum
Five Central Texas historical groups made a financial contribution to the Burlington-Rock Island Railroad Museum in Teague after the successful and collaborative railroad symposium in October. The three historical commissions of Limestone, Navarro, and Freestone Counties, along with the Tehuacana Heritage Society and the Teague Historical Preservation Society, pulled together railroad enthusiasts and noted speakers. Their goal was to archive information on the histories of the Trinity & Brazos Valley and the Houston & Texas Central Railroad Lines. The project was well received and provided the area with a historical railroad publication and power point videos for educational purposes. They will be shown at the museum but also can be viewed in a YouTube series provided by the Limestone County Historical Commission. Through the generous gifts of area sponsors the year-long work to provide the symposium raised hopes for similar events as Teague’s Railroad Station continues to rebuild its inventory and resources. The presentation of the funds to its board supports the ongoing work in curation of such a fine, historical, and educational building and artifacts.
