    Lions run past Buffalo, lose at Groesbeck

    It was a mixed bag of results for the Teague boys basketball team last week.

    The Lions ran past Buffalo, 56-28, on Jan. 23, but lost a 38-37 thriller at Groesbeck last Friday. Teague (8-11, 4-5) hosted Franklin on Tuesday.

    The Lions visit Mexia on Friday and host Elkhart on Tuesday. Both games are slated to tip off at 7:30 p.m.

    GROESBECK 38, TEAGUE 37

    For three quarters, Teague held Groesbeck in check and enjoyed a 30-18 lead going into the final quarter. But the Goats outscored the Lions, 20-7, to rally for a 38-37 victory at Groesbeck.

    Nick Barrentine led the Lions with 15 points and eight steals.

    J’kybryen Harris (7 rebounds), Joshua Owens (8 points) and Jehmel Rice (6 points, 6 rebounds) also contributed.

    TEAGUE 56, BUFFALO 28

    Brayden Leija scored 14 points to lead Teague past Buffalo, 56-28, on Jan. 23. Harris (8 points), Owens (6 points, 7 rebounds), Rice (8 points, 8 rebounds) and Clifford Coleman (5 points, 7 rebounds) also contributed.
