    Secondary students get clear backpacks

All students at the Teague ISD secondary campus, which include fifth-12th grade students, were issued clear backpacks on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

“The clear backpacks are intended to enhance safety and security within our school community,” TISD Superintendent Chris Skinner said.

Skinner noted that the district had procured a clear backpack for every secondary- aged student to ensure uniformity and consistency. Bags that aren’t clear were no longer allowed on campus beginning Thursday, Feb. 8.

Female students are still permitted to carry a small bag for personal hygiene items. However, the bag should be no bigger than a pen/pencil pouch. Lunchboxes may still be carried at the junior high level.

“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of all students,” Skinner said.
