The 94th Annual Teague 4th of July Rodeo will take place Thursday, July 4 through Saturday, July 6, with rodeo performances beginning at 8 p.m. each night.

Adult tickets (12 and over) are $10. Kids 12 and under get in for free courtesy of Mike Terry.

Kids must pick up a ticket from 3W Truck Beds, Deja Vu, Citizens State Bank, Freestone Credit Union, or Prosperity Bank in Teague or Mike Terry Dealership in Mexia.

“The heritage of the Teague Rodeo is really special. Generations upon generations have attended this rodeo and have many stories to tell. It is just three very special nights where memories are made,” Teague Rodeo Association President Brandon Whitaker said. “If you travel around the world, people know Teague because of this rodeo.” Rodeo events consist of bareback, saddle bronc, bull riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, steer roping, team roping, ribbon roping, and wild cow milking.

Mutton Busting, where youngsters seven and under attempt to ride a sheep, is a big event held each night prior to the rodeo.

Twenty-five youngsters will compete on Thursday night and another 25 on Friday night at 7 p.m. prior to the rodeo.

The top 10 contestants will then compete on Saturday night during the rodeo performance.

The 4th of July festivities will begin with the parade at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 4..

Line-up for the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Teague Hotel.

Contestants wishing to compete for Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl also need to meet at this time to be judged and then ride their horse in the parade with no assistance.

The winners will receive a belt buckle and will be introduced each night at the rodeo.

The Teague Chamber of Commerce will host its annual hamburger fundraiser beginning prior to the parade at 5 p.m. at the Citizens State Bank parking lot.

Cost for a burger, chips, and drink is $10.

They will also be offering two hot dogs, chips, and a drink for $10.

The world famous concession stand will be open each night of the rodeo with the famous chili dogs available.

Kona Ice will also be sold all three nights.

This year the Teague Rodeo Association is raffling off a Honda Ranch 4-Wheeler this year.

Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100.

The drawing will be held July 6 during the rodeo. The winner is responsible for tax, title, and license.

This year, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Teague First Responders - Teague EMS, Teague Police Department, and the Teague Volunteer Fire Department. Last year, the Teague Rodeo Association donated $10,000 to the Teague first responders and the Freestone County Sheriff’s Department. Each department received $2,500.

The 1st Annual Teague 4th of July Youth Rodeo will be held on Saturday night, June 29, starting at 6 p.m. Events include goat ribbon pulling, goat tying, barrels, poles, chute roping, breakaway, double mugging, and ribbon robbing.

Buckles will be given to all event winners at the youth rodeo. There will be an All-Around buckle to the high point boy and girl in each age group as well.

“We started working on this year’s rodeo the Sunday after last year’s rodeo was over.” Whitaker said. “We are looking forward to this year’s rodeo to be the biggest and brightest year of all time.”
