GROSSE POINTE FARMS — Two titles down, one to go for the Tecumseh Area Little League to make a trip to Williamsport, Penn. for the Little League World Series.

The top Tecumseh all-stars have represented the area well, going 10-0 so far this summer, taking the District 16 title and then representing the District and claiming the Michigan state title in a 5-4 win against Richmond on Thursday.

"We knew coming in we had a team that could last and endure," coach Jonathan Wines said.

Leading Tecumseh to the state title was Caleb Dunigan as he got the start, going 4 2/3 innings before handing the ball off to Max Gomez and then Blake McNamara for the win.

Dunigan did damage at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run.

"(Dunigan) was the guy we wanted out there for this game," Wines said.

He certainly wasn't alone, as Harlan Glover went 2-for-3 with a run and the game-winning RBI with two outs in the sixth to put Tecumseh up 5-4 after Richmond tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.

Keelyn Ballard and Declan Blackburn each had two hits as well while Tyler Henning had a hit to lead off the sixth and later scored the winning run and Braden Lips had a hit and an RBI hit-by-pitch in the victory while Evan Shirk also had an RBI hit-by-pitch.

Tecumseh will take on the state champions from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois in the Great Lake Region.

"We are excited to represent Tecumseh and the entire state of Michigan in the region," Wines said. "The kids will get the weekend off to enjoy this, but it's back to work on Monday. I don't think it's really sunk in yet."

It'll begin play at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 against Kentucky. The winner will then play Ohio at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 while the loser drops to the elimination bracket and will play either Indiana or Illinois at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4.

All games can be seen on ESPN+ while the semifinals will be on ESPN on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 5-6, and the final will be Wednesday, Aug. 7 on ESPN 2.
