ROCHESTER, Minnesota – U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced the indictment of Liban Abdikadar Abdullahi, 29, on firearm and drug trafficking charges.

According to court documents, on April 28, 2024, Abdullahi knowingly possessed a 9mm Glock model 43 semiautomatic pistol. He also possessed fentanyl with the intent to distribute and carried the Glock pistol to further his drug trafficking activities. Due to his prior felony convictions, Abdullahi is prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The indictment includes charges of possessing a firearm as a felon, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Abdullahi made his initial court appearance today before Magistrate Judge John F. Docherty in U.S. District Court.

This case results from a collaborative investigation by the Rochester Police Department, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan B. Gilead is prosecuting the case.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation. Abdullahi is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
