BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An Excessive Heat Warning will take effect at 11 a.m. Monday for the San Joaquin Valley and the Kern River Canyon and continues through Wednesday evening while an Excessive Heat Warning continues for the Kern County Deserts through Wednesday evening.

Besides the heat, the other concern for mountain communities will be the potential for thunderstorms. Thunderstorm chances will be higher in the Sierra on Tuesday afternoon and evening with slight chances possible in the higher Sierra Foothills, the Kern County Mountains north of Tehachapi and even in the Kern County Desert areas.
