According to Cal Fire arson investigators and the Butte County District Attorney's Office, a subject was seen pushing a car that was on fire into a gully near the Alligator Hole in upper Bidwell Park shortly before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24. They say the fire spread from the vehicle to nearby vegetation and ignited the Park Fire. One man, identified as a 42-year-old Chico man, was arrested in connection to starting the fire.

The fire is only three-percent contained. Evacuation orders and warnings are in place for Butte and Tehama counties. Flames are spreading just outside Chico, with every fire engine in the city on scene. This is one of seven wildfires that sparked yesterday.
