Intentionally Set ‘Park Fire’ Expands Rapidly to Over 160-Thousand Acres
More crews are racing to help battle what is now California’s largest wildfire. It exploded yesterday near Chico after sparking Wednesday afternoon and now tops 164-thousand acres. The Park Fire has forced four-thousand people to evacuate in Butte and Tehama counties. Some homes have already burned down but there’s no exact count yet. While downtown Chico isn’t threatened, the town of Paradise is after nearly being wiped out by a wildfire in 2018. Crews are also focused on protecting the small community of Cohasset.

CHICO, Calif. - The Park Fire has burned 239,152 acres with 0% containment. CAL FIRE confirmed that at least 134 structures have been destroyed due to the Park Fire. It's burned parts of Butte and Tehama Counties. It is now the largest fire burning in California. The Park Fire has now exceeded the size of the 2018 Camp Fire which burned 153,336 acres and killed 85 people in Paradise in Butte County.

Wild developments have surfaced from the state of California this week after local authorities arrested a man believed to be tied to the Park Fire. The fire began Wednesday, July 24 and within a day, had grown to more than 124,000 acres with little containment. Now, the fire is burning more than 300,000 acres.
