There is a huge weekend ahead. Thursday is Fresh Mess Market in Monteagle, 3-6 p.m. Friday night is Supper in the Park in Altamont, which starts around 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday is the 65th annual Monteagle Mountain Market for Arts & Crafts, 9-5 p.m. and 9-4 p.m., respectively. Over 120 vendors, including 12 food trucks, are scheduled to attend. Parking is still available on the grassy median across from DuBose. This wonderful event is a collaboration between the newly reorganized South Cumberland Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Monteagle. Also on Saturday is the iconic Swiss Heritage Celebration in Gruetli Laager from 10-4 p.m. at the Stoker-Stampfli Farm Museum. It is a great day to take a tour of the museum, dance to polka music, drink authentic Swiss wine, and have a fun hayride tour of the farm. The cost to attend is $10 per person, and kids under 12 are free. Saturday is also the 10th annual Reagan Day Picnic at Piney Creek Airpark in Altamont from 11-1:30 p.m. The opening keynote speaker is TN Secretary of State Tre Hargett, and the closing keynote speaker is 12th District Public Defender Ted Engel. Grundy Mayor Michael Brady will give a county update, and candidates will have time to speak. There will also be a special presentation for a posthumous award to Constable George DeMotta. BBQ and drinks will be provided; bring a dish to share. Donations welcome. Sarah Douglas will be the featured entertainment. For more information, find Grundy County TN Republican Party on Facebook. Colorado has hired Tennessee’s Sean Carlson as the Buffs’ new track coach. That’s another jump up for Sean. “We’re so happy to welcome Sean Carlson to Boulder and the University of Colorado,” said athletics director Rick George. “At CU, we’ve got an elite running program and with Sean’s history of success, I feel strongly that we’ve got an elite coach to lead our exceptional student-athletes.”
