HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Tell City Fire Department is expanding on a new volunteer medical initiative in hopes of providing faster prehospital care to community members.

TCFD says in this new initiative, certified volunteers would respond as Emergency Medical Responders to medical emergencies in the area, including the city of Tell City and an area of Troy Township.

They say volunteers must complete and pass an Indiana state-approved EMR course, which provides training and medical knowledge to the volunteers department.

TCFD says they are in need of more certified volunteers to be able to offer the service 24/7. It is said they currently have 13 certified EMRs.

For more information, visit the Tell City Fire Department’s Facebook post or contact tellcityfire@tellcity.in.gov .
