The Arc of Arizona and Chandler/Gilbert Arc announced its upcoming Sprout Film Festival, a celebration of diversity and inclusion through the power of cinema hosted at Pollack Cinemas in Tempe on April 26.

With three showings scheduled throughout the day, the Sprout Film Festival will showcase films that portray the diverse experiences of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, a press release explained.

Through thought-provoking narratives and powerful storytelling, these films offer audiences a glimpse into the lives, challenges and triumphs of people with IDD.

"We are thrilled to bring the Sprout Film Festival to Tempe and collaborate with Chandler/Gilbert Arc to promote a message of inclusivity and acceptance," Melanie Soto, The Arc of Arizona state director, stated in the release. "This festival is a platform to celebrate the talents and stories of individuals with IDD and to foster understanding and empathy within our communities."

The festival will feature a lineup of short films and documentaries that explore themes such as resilience, friendship, creativity and advocacy.

Each film offers a particular perspective and encourages meaningful conversations about diversity, disability rights and the importance of inclusion in society, the release detailed

"We believe in the power of film to educate, inspire, and create positive change," Billy Parker, executive director of Chandler/Gilbert Arc, stated in the release. "The Sprout Film Festival is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to come together, learn from each other and celebrate the richness of diversity."

The Sprout Film Festival will have three showings at Pollack Cinemas in Tempe at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase online or at the theater box office. All proceeds from the festival will support programs and services for individuals with IDD in Arizona, according to the release.
