The Greater Phoenix Urban League will be recruiting in Tempe on June 24 for its Summer Youth Employment Program.

SYEP provides youth across Maricopa County, ages 16-21, with 20 hours a week of paid hands-on work experience, fostering skill development and offering networking opportunities for 5 weeks, a release explained.

Professional internships provide a platform for professional growth for high school seniors and young adults aged 18 to 21. Participants earn $15 per hour and are eligible for a $500 completion bonus.

Summer job experience is open to individuals aged 16 to 21, offering practical work experience for in-demand industry jobs. Participants also earn $15 per hour and are eligible for a $500 completion bonus.

Participants are selected via random lottery, according to the release. Applications from underserved youth will be prioritized. There will be more than one lottery to ensure that all seats in the program are filled.

Apply at gphxul.org/employment or text 1-833-400-0903 for questions. This program is paid for in whole or in part with funds provided by Maricopa County, the release stated.

GPUL is also still looking for Tempe businesses to participate.  Interested businesses can contact Director of Youth Services Charolette Denson at 602-254-5611 ext. 111 or 623-239-1503.
