Bank of America hosted a business attire shopping trip at Tempe Marketplace on June 14 to prepare 15 Valley youths for their first day as financial center interns this summer through a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Valley and AZYouthForce.

Dressing for the job you want is easier said than done for low-income youth, as the up-front cost of professional attire is one the first barriers they encounter when entering a professional workforce setting that can put them on a trajectory to higher-wage careers and opportunities, a media release stated.

After completing the AZYouthForce Academy with the Boys and Girls Club of the Valley, the students join Bank of America during the summer in a paid opportunity to serve as financial center interns.

The internship provides workforce development training where the interns will learn critical customer service skills as they help bank clients use mobile and digital banking tools, the release explained. Bank of America also provides financial education on understanding their paychecks, savings, budgeting and more.
