Tempe recognized as a top meeting destination

Tempe was named a top meeting destination in North America by meetings, events and hospitality technology provider Cvent.

The list evaluates cities that are successfully engaging event planners and attracting group business to their locales, a city press release stated.

Cvent evaluated more than 12,500 cities worldwide, and Tempe ranked No. 45 on the North America list. See the world rankings here .

This list is shared with event planners around the world and is a tool for attracting meetings and tourism opportunities, according to the release.

Last year, tourism activities in Tempe brought more than $1 billion in economic impact to the area. That translates to money for local businesses, hotels and suppliers and job opportunities for residents, the release stated.
