The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services will activate 10 heat relief stations throughout the Valley — with one in Tempe — during the latest Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service for Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20.

Anyone in need can go to one of the Salvation Army heat relief stations for indoor cooling and hydration on any weekday during normal operating hours, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a weekend day on which the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, a press release explained.

The cooling center in Tempe is located at Tempe Corps Community Center, 4701 S. Lakeshore Drive, #3.

A mobile hydration unit will be dispatched from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day July 19 and 20 to portions of the Valley identified as areas with high homeless populations.

So far this year, the Salvation Army has provided heat relief to nearly 41,000 Arizonans and given out almost 82,000 bottles of water across the state, according to the release.

To donate to help those in need facing the unbearable summer heat, visit SalvationArmyPhoenix.org or text HEAT to 51555. To volunteer at a heat relief station, contact your local Salvation Army or call 602-267-4100.
