Hubert Kos of Team Hungary celebrates winning gold.

Legendary Olympic swim coach Bob Bowman may not be officially heading up any team in Paris, but his mark is all over the medal podium at La Defense Arena.

Thursday two more of his swimmers from Arizona State and the University of Texas earned medals in event finals.

Hungary's Hubert Kos, an NCAA champion at ASU now training at Texas, won his country's first gold medal since 1980 in the men's 200 backstroke. It's also Hungary's first gold in any sport at the Paris Games so far.

Regan Smith, who trained with Bowman at ASU and now also at Texas, earned silver in the women's 200 butterfly while also setting a new American record. She also won silver in the 100 backstroke on Tuesday and will compete for another medal in the 200 backstroke Friday.

Bowman was the longtime coach of U.S. Olympic GOAT Michael Phelps, who won 28 Olympic medals. After winning a men's NCAA title with ASU in 2024, Bowman took the head job at Texas.

On Wednesday, two other NCAA champion pupils of Bowman's from ASU — France's Leon Marchand and Canada's Ilya Kharun — won gold and bronze, respectively, in the men's 200 butterfly.

Marchand, who is making his own history in Paris , also won gold in the 400 individual medley and 200 breaststroke earlier in the Games. He'll attempt to make it four golds total on Friday in the 200 individual medley.

Simone Manuel, a Stanford alum, trained with Bowman in Tempe over the last two seasons and earned silver as part of the women's 4x100 and 4x200 freestyle relays. She'll have one more opportunity at the podium this weekend in the 50 freestyle.

For those counting at home, Bowman's athletes have tallied nine medals in Paris so far — roughly 12.5 percent of the total swimming medals awarded to date.
