Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff have faced 11 times previously.

Two of the biggest names in women’s tennis will face off for a place in the French Open final.

Thursday’s first semi-final will see world No 1 and reigning Roland Garros champion Iga Swiatek take on world No 3 and US Open winner Coco Gauff – after quarter-final wins over Marketa Vondrousova and Ons Jabeur respectively.

Swiatek and Gauff attract everywhere they go and there is always a huge sense of anticipation when they meet.

However, the head-to-head does not make pretty reading for the American, who has won just one of 11 matches against Swiatek.

The challenge for Gauff is to turn this rivalry around, but can she do that?

We look at the 11 previous matches between the two, with Swiatek largely cruising through most of their matches, including two French Open wins.

    2021 Italian Open SF: Swiatek 7-6(3), 6-3

The first meeting between the two was on the dirt, and is one of their closest matches.

Swiatek edged a tight first set in the tiebreak, and then won a more comfortable second set to reach the final – where she infamously double-bagelled Karolina Pliskova.

    2022 Miami Open R16: Swiatek 6-3, 6-1

Their first meeting of 2022 came when Swiatek’s 37-match win streak was just underway, with the Pole fresh off victory at Indian Wells.

And the world No 1 was a comfortable victor on this occasion, with Floridian Gauff able to win just four games at her home tournament.

    2022 French Open F: Swiatek 6-1, 6-3

Their biggest meeting to date came in the Roland Garros final two years ago, where Swiatek won the second of her four major titles.

Gauff had beaten Martina Trevisan in the last four to reach a maiden major final but could do little to stop her rival on Court Philippe Chatrier, Swiatek picking up a 35th straight match win.

2022 San Diego Open QF: Swiatek 6-0, 6-3

One of the most emphatic wins for the Pole over Gauff came in San Diego, on her way to a 11th career title in October 2022.

Swiatek picked up a comfortable first set and then closed out a comfortable victory with a trademark bagel.

    2022 WTA Finals RR: Swiatek 6-3, 6-0

A few weeks later, it was almost an identical story when the two met at the WTA Finals in Fort Worth.

Making her event debut that year, Gauff was unable to make any inroads against her rival, again winning only three games.

    2023 Dubai Championships SF: Swiatek 6-4, 6-2

This contest was a little closer than their previous two but still ended in a familiar fashion.

Swiatek was able to take a fairly close opener against the American and then improved in the second to claim yet another comfortable victory.

    2023 French Open QF: Swiatek 6-4, 6-2

Twelve months after meeting in the French Open final, Swiatek and Gauff met again in Paris – this time in the last eight stage.

Gauff had more success than she did in the final but was unable to threaten too regularly, and the world No 1 dropped just six games to progress – and ultimately defend her title.

    2023 Cincinnati Masters SF: Gauff 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4

The one win for Gauff in this head-to-head came last summer when the American was in career-best form.

Gauff won her first set against Swiatek in a first-set tiebreak and, despite dropping the second, rallied to seal a significant victory; she would later beat Karolina Muchova in the final.

    2023 China Open SF: Swiatek 6-2, 6-3

A few weeks after her sole loss to Gauff, Swiatek steadied the ship on her way to glory at the China Open.

In a highly-anticipated semi-final clash, the Pole was largely in control and showed strong end-of-season form in a comfortable win, dropping just five games.

    2023 WTA Finals RR: Swiatek 6-0, 7-5

Swiatek did not drop a set on her way to a maiden WTA Finals crown last season, and Gauff was one of the opponents she brushed aside in Cancun.

After a one-sided first set things were more competitive in the second, but the Pole struck at the end of the match to win in straight sets.

    2024 Italian Open SF: Swiatek 6-4, 6-3

Their only meeting this season came on the clay in Rome – the venue of their first meeting three years ago.

Much like that match, this was not massively one-sided, but Swiatek was still a comfortable victor when it came down to it.
