WTA Rankings: Iga Swiatek opens massive 3 700-point lead, Coco Gauff the new No 2, Jasmine Paolini into top 10

Iga Swiatek did Iga Swiatek things at Roland Garros as she won a fourth title and, with her closest rival exiting the clay-court Grand Slam earlier than expected, the Pole has opened an enormous lead at the top.

The 23-year-old successfully defended her French Open crown to remain on 11,695 points – an incredible 3 707-point lead over new world No 2 Coco Gauff.

Reigning US Open champion Gauff secured the new rankings milestone on the back of Aryna Sabalenka’s quarter-final exit at the hands of Mirra Andreeva.

Gauff added 350 points as she reached the semi-final while Sabalenka dropped 350 points and slipped to No 3 in the rankings, leaving Swiatek to extend her lead at No 1.

There is a debutant in the top 10 as French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini continues her incredible rise. The Italian first cracked the top 20 after winning the Dubai Tennis Championships in February and she has now surged another eight places to a career-high No 7 after reaching the final in Paris.

Outside the top 10, Marta Kostyuk and Emma Navarro also broke new ground as the former is up three places to No 17 while American Navarro makes the top 20 for the first time after jumping six spots after reaching the fourth round in Paris.

Beatriz Haddad Maia reached the semi-final last year, but lost in the first round and the Brazilian now finds herself at No 20 after slipping six spots.

Semi-finalist Andreeva is closing in on the top 20 as she surged 15 places to a career-high of No 23.

American Katy Volynets was one of the biggest winners as she jumped 31 spots to No 77 as she reached the second round after coming through qualifying. Serbia’s Olga Danilovic is just outside the top 100 at No 107 as she surged 31 places after reaching the fourth round of the clay-court major.

Meanwhile, last year’s French Open runner-up Karolina Muchova dropped 19 places to No 35 as she was unable to play in Paris, Sloane Stephens is down 12 places to No 47
