The 10 women with the most grass-court titles: Martina Navratilova 3rd, Serena Williams joint-7th

There are six women who have claimed 10 or more grass-court titles in tennis’ Open Era, with Margaret Court having won the most tournaments on the surface.

Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Serena Williams and Steffi Graf are some of the other tennis legends who feature on the list.

Here, we look at the 11 women’s players with the most grass-court singles titles in the Open Era.

10. Steffi Graf – 7

Steffi Graf won seven of her 107 WTA singles titles on grass and all of these triumphs came at Wimbledon (1989-1989, 1991-1993, 1995-1996). The German compiled an 85-15 (85%) career grass-court record.

=7. Serena Williams – 8

Serena Williams won eight of her 73 WTA singles titles at grass-court tournaments, with seven of these victories coming at Wimbledon (2002-2003, 2009-2010, 2012, 2015-2016).

The American’s other grass-court title also came of the All England Club as she crushed Maria Sharapova in the gold medal match at the 2012 London Olympics.

=7. Virginia Wade – 8

Virginia Wade claimed eight Open Era grass-court singles crowns, while one of her three Grand Slam titles came on grass at Wimbledon in 1977. Wade was the last British woman to triumph at the All England Club.

Ann Jones won 33 singles titles in the Open Era, with eight of these coming at professional grass-court tournaments. The Brit won her only Wimbledon title on her 14th and final singles appearance at her home Major in 1969.

6. Sue Barker – 10

Sue Barker won 10 singles titles on grass courts, with six of these coming at official WTA events in Surbiton, Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Manchester and Sydney.

The Brit’s best result at Grand Slam tournaments played on grass was reaching the semi-finals at both the Australian Open (1975, 1977) and Wimbledon (1977).

5. Chris Evert – 17

Chris Evert collected 17 of her 157 WTA singles titles at grass-court tournaments, with five of her 18 Majors coming on the surface.

The American won Wimbledon three times (1974, 1976, 1981) and the Australian Open twice (1982, 1984).

4. Billie Jean King – 22

Billie Jean King won 22 grass-court singles tournaments in the Open Era, while she secured seven of her eight Open Era Grand Slam singles titles on grass.

The American claimed four Wimbledon titles (1968, 1972-1973, 1975) and three US Open crowns (1971-1972, 1974) in this period.

3. Martina Navratilova – 32

Martina Navratilova claimed 32 of her record 167 WTA singles titles on grass courts, while 12 of her Major singles crowns were on the surface.

The Czech-American won Wimbledon nine times (1978-1979, 1982-1987, 1990) and the Australian Open on three occasions (1981, 1983, 1985).

2. Evonne Goolagong – 38

Evonne Goolagong secured 38 grass-court singles titles, with six of her seven Grand Slam crowns coming on the surface.

The Australian was a two-time Wimbledon champion (1971, 1980) and a four-time Australian Open winner (1974-1976, 1977).

Margaret Court collected 46 of the 96 titles she won in the Open Era at grass-court tournaments, with eight of these triumphs coming at Grand Slams.

The Australian won the Australian Open four times (1969-1971, 1973), Wimbledon once (1970) and the US Open three times (1969-1970, 1973) during this period.
