Top three in the WTA Rankings: Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka

Iga Swiatek has been assured of the top-seed status at Wimbledon for quite some time, but the race between Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka for the second seed will go down to the wire.

Five-time Grand Slam winner Swiatek has held a massive lead at the top of the WTA Rankings for quite some time now and she will be the top seed at a major for the 10th Slam in a row.

Her run started at the 2022 French Open, two months after she replaced Ashleigh Barty at No 1 in the rankings following the Australian’s retirement. Sabalenka briefly usurped the Pole at No 1 after the 2023 US Open, but Swiatek returned to the top spot in November last year and has remained there since.

Reigning US Open champion Gauff is currently at No 2 in the Live Rankings, but she only has a 200-point lead over Sabalenka with players competing at the WTA 500 Berlin Open this week.

If Gauff exits the tournament early and Sabalenka reaches the final, then the Belarusian will be the second seed at Wimbledon.

Wimbledon men’s projected singles seeds: Jannik Sinner at No 1, Carlos Alcaraz fighting for No 2 spot, five Americans feature

They are followed by Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula and Marketa Vondrousova with the trio set to remain there irrespective of their results in Berlin.

French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini is currently in seventh, but the likes of Qinwen Zheng and Ons Jabeur could still move past the Italian as she is not in action this week.

Two teenagers are set to be seeded with 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva ranked No 24 while Linda Noskova sits two places behind her in the Live Rankings.

Katie Boulter is currently the only British player inside the top 32, but her position is not assured as she is at No 30 and could still drop out of the list before the cut-off date of June 24.

Canadian Leylah Fernandez currently occupies the final spot with former French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova, Veronika Kudermetova, Marie Bouzkova, Yue Yuan and Xinyu Wang also still in the running.

Although 2022 French Open runner-up Karolína Muchova is currently at No 34 in the Live Rankings, she remains out injured.
