VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Entek announced this week that a $1.2 billion loan will finance a new facility being built in Vigo County Industrial Park II.

Entek is the only maker of wet process lithium-ion battery separator materials that is owned and operated in the United States. Vice President of US Plant operations Jennifer Stock says the plant will not just help manufacture batteries for the country but will also bring new opportunities for the locals of Vigo County.

“We are committed to hiring local construction, buying locally, and of course, hiring locally. This project will create approximately 750 construction jobs and 650 long-term operations jobs.”

With technical schools right here in Terre Haute, Entek says that it will provide the next generation of workers with alternate pathways, that can lead to prospering careers.

The 1.4 million square foot facility is expected to start hiring in 2025 and production will start later that year.
